Portraits with Pzazz!

And the beat goes on
Pulsating through my soul
Pushing me
Driving me
Forward into
Places I never imagined
I would be able to go

NYC Streets

Out for a Walk

Out for a Walk

Come
I will walk
Beside you
All the way
Through
Don’t give up
Don’t give in
Discomfort is deceit
We will take
One step
Of progress
At a time

Switching things up
Making moves
Smooth & sharp
Success is the groove
I’m feeling

Take Me With You

Don’t go
I’m too cute to leave
Take me with you
Pleaseee
Wanna be
Always next to you

God’s God the Whole World in His Hands

All In A Day's Work

Power to the people
The glory go to God
Who wipes the sweat
Lifts burdens off
Breaking backs
So we all will
Rise & stand
Through every
Daily struggle

Portraits with Pzazz!

Piece by piece
Assembling my dream
Riveting fragments together
Creating an original
Life to live

Rivet the Dream

Aye Dios Mio!  Laundry.  Everywhere there’s laundry.  Overflowing.  Running wild. Spilling out my ears!  Bright red.  Canary yellow.  Turquoise.  Parquet green.  Tower of downy soft towels.  Never ending.  Mucho trabajo.  “Washer number seven.”  “Dryer number eleven.”  Trills the boss lady.  Tee-shirts.  Jeans.  Baby blankets.  Long socks.  Sports socks.  A strangers “cute” lacy panties.  Not so cute when the need – Wash.  Dry.  Fold.  And bag.  Aching back.  Feet hurt.  Arms like windmills.  As they wind up king size sheets.  God, can you hear ME up there?  I need you to help me endure.  This endless task.  So bread will be on my table.

Back to the Country

What Dreams May Come

What roads
Have I paved
In the hearts of men?
Has even one stroke
Of my labors
One drop
Of my sweat
Made the path smoother
For the traveler
Who passes after me?
Or has all my striving
Been in vain?

I’ve been struggling
Like a mule
All my life
It was what it was
One gray day
Daddy up & died
Leaving
A foreign widow
In a foreign land
No English
Nine hungry children
Did what I had to do
Thirteen
Walked out of school
Buckled on
My grown-up shoes
Washing, cooking, scrubbing
Made my way to Philadelphia
Just to mail home
A few green dollars
Paid daddy’s debts
Put bread on the table
Family stayed together
I
Struggled like a mule

Back to the Country

Winter

It’s like
Cashmere over lace
One snowflake crystal
Glittering among stars
Love wrapped up
Red velvet ribbon
Tied snug
Around my heart
Winter fairytale
Ice castle
Royal blue in the sky
Queen of your heart
This winter
To the end of time

NYC Streets

City lights
Each one
One soul’s story
Life
Won or lost
Illuminate
Extinguish
Destiny turns
On a dime
Wrap the Day

NYC Streets

If I gave you my heart
Would you cherish it
Under the umbrella of your love?
Or let it wither & die
Like the roses of summer past?

La Vie En Rose

Hugged him
Want to have
His arms
Holding me
Here & forever

NYC Streets

Creeping
Down the middle track
Ghastly floodlights
Chasing scrappy rats
Snippets
Of zombie passengers
Flicker
Between gaps in grime layered walls
Grinding
Screechy sci-fi

Underground

God’s Got the Whole World in His Hands

Paint me a picture
Paint my lover
Sailing back
From a far away land
Paint our embrace
Hunger & desire
Colliding
Paint my heart
His only home
Paint us
Forever & ever
After

Mystery

Portraits with Pzazz!

Stripes are in
Brooklyn’s dope
Strike a pose
Let’s get to it

God’s Got the Whole World in His Hands

In the Middle of Somewhere

Going to build
Mi familia
Una casa
Gut wrenching
Sweat drenching
Up to my armpits
Dusty red dirt
Brick by brick
Labor of love

Una Casa

Peddling Bananas
